Cormet collaborates Instron to meet customer needs

Cormet was approached by a customer in need of cyclic fatigue and fracture mechanics testing in the supercritical water environment. Due to the nature of high speed fatigue studies, the servo hydraulic approach was selected. Cormet worked together with Instron to find a hydraulic power unit and a hydraulic actuator suitable for the job.

Instron’s off-the-shelf 8800 servohydraulic actuator was combined with the loading frame and autoclave designed by Cormet. The autoclave is rated up to 650°C and 30 MPa, enabling the customer to test materials in a generation IV nuclear power plant environment.
